CLEAR OFF YOUR HARD DRIVE
Follow these steps to clean house: Start by pressing Windows + F. In the "Look in:" pull-down menu, select My Computer. In the Advanced tab in the "Size is:" pull-down menu, select At Least. Then select a KB range. Try setting this to 3000. Then hit Find Now. After your search has finished, hit the Type column to sort by file type. You've now uncovered all files on your computer bigger than 3MB. Do you see a pattern among the files over 3MBs? I thought you would. Most likely these space-munching culprits are unwanted programs: .mp3, .avi, and .zip files. If you can live without any of these files, begin deleting or transferring to removable storage at will. For programs, you must delete the proper way to avoid leaving any residuals behind. To do this, go to the Add/Remove menu and delete them from there. Don't ever remove a program by deleting the file folder where it's stored.
